As part of the beginning of English Week, students from Medio Mayor to 2nd grade, all from the Junior Area, received special stickers connected to this important school celebration. This small but meaningful gesture marked the start of a week full of activities, experiences, and celebrations designed to promote the use of English throughout our school community.
The activity was developed as a collaboration between the English Immersion Program and the English Department, two areas of the school that share a common goal: to strengthen the presence of the English language through different experiences that are meaningful, joyful, and connected to students’ everyday school life.
The stickers were related to British culture, reinforcing one of the central ideas behind English Week: language learning is always enriched when it is connected to culture. Through this simple detail, students were invited to recognise English not only as a subject, but also as a way to explore traditions, symbols, stories, and cultural references from around the world.
The stickers were delivered during a special visit from our beloved school mascot, “The Colegio Concepcion Ant”, who arrived in the classrooms to greet the students and share this joyful moment with them. As a familiar character that is already part of the identity of Colegio Concepción, the ant brought excitement, closeness, and a sense of celebration to the beginning of English Week.
Although it was a simple gesture, the moment became especially meaningful for the children. Receiving the sticker allowed them to feel part of a wider school celebration and understand that English Week is a special time to enjoy language through games, stories, culture, creativity, and shared experiences.
This activity also reflected the importance of making English visible across the school through small symbolic actions. A sticker, a visit, and a shared smile became the first step in a week that invites students to use English in different contexts and to connect language learning with imagination, identity, and culture.
Moments like this help strengthen the sense of community that English Week seeks to promote every year. Through simple and joyful experiences, our youngest students began this celebration feeling included, excited, and ready to take part in a week where English becomes part of school life in meaningful ways.
