English Week Activity 1: Spelling Bee Competition

The English Department held a Spelling Bee competition within students from 5 th grade and 6 th grade elementary level on August 8 th . This activity took place in the school library with the presence of teachers and students supporting and encouraging their peers.
The winners in each level were 5 th grade B and 6 TH grade A.
The Spelling Bee competition ended with the members of each class receiving a medal, and for their participation in the Bee, our competitors received a number of prizes from English Department to enhance their commitment to attending this event.
It is important to emphasize the relevance of this activity as it is an opportunity to provide tools for the socialization in the school community. The valuable learning outcome of spelling bee results in the children learning grammar, enhancing vocabulary, consolidating knowledge, developing a range of cognitive skills, and boosting their confidence.

P.S. Why on earth is a spelling competition known as Spelling Bees? What do stripe, honey-creating insects have to do with the written word?
Well, thats not the case actually! In fact, spelling bees are not named after the insect, but rather the term refers to a gathering of people who come together for a common purpose, often helping one another to achieve a task.
