On Wednesday 27th May , our school auditorium was filled with intense concentration, whispered huddles, and roaring applause as Colegio Concepción hosted its annual 5th and 6th Grade Spelling Bee Competition.
It was a brilliant showcase of vocabulary, composure under pressure, and incredible teamwork.
The competition brought together the sharpest spellers from the upper elementary grades, featuring three teams from 5th grade and three teams from 6th grade.
The tournament was structured into two rigorous classification rounds. Our young linguists had to navigate a minefield of tricky vowels, silent letters, and complex origins. As the rounds progressed, the tension in the room was palpable.
Both categories were so evenly matched that the initial rounds ended in a draw for both the 5th and 6th-grade divisions! The judges had to dig deep into the reserve list of words to break the ties.
The final tie-breaking rounds pushed our students to their absolute limits. After a series of nail-biting, letter-by-letter showdowns, the champions finally emerged:
5th Grade B took home the trophy after flawlessly navigating the final round of words.
6th Grade C clinched the victory with a stunning display of linguistic precision.
«It wasn’t just about memorizing words; it was about managing nerves and working together as a team,» remarked one of the event judges. «Every single student should be incredibly proud of how they represented their class.»
A huge congratulations to our winners, and a massive round of applause to all the participants who dared to step up to the microphone. You showed true Colegio Concepción spirit!
We would also like to thank the English department, the judges, and the enthusiastic audience of classmates and teachers who cheered our competitors on. See you next year for another spellbinding competition!
