Our 6th Graders Reach an Important Milestone with Cambridge A2 Flyers!

We are very happy to share a special moment in the English learning journey of our students at Colegio Concepción! For the second consecutive year, our school has offered its 6th Graders the opportunity to certify their English language skills through the internationally recognised Cambridge English Qualifications: A2 Flyers examination.
This year, students from 6th Grade A, B, and C took on this challenge, putting into practice the knowledge, skills, and confidence they have developed throughout their years of learning English. The examination was carried out in collaboration with the Instituto Chileno Británico de Cultura de Concepción, allowing our students to experience an international English assessment as part of their school journey.
For our school, this is a particularly meaningful experience because Cambridge A2 Flyers marks the culmination of our English Immersion Plan, coordinated by Mr. Marcos Riveros Illanes. This educational programme accompanies students from Medio Mayor through to 6th Grade, providing opportunities to develop their communication skills through classroom activities, storytelling, interactive experiences, and the use of English in different contexts. Sitting this examination gives students the chance to bring together much of what they have learnt during this important stage of their education.
Preparing for an international examination also requires dedication and practice. With the guidance and support of Ms. Camila Moisan Sanhueza, our students worked on strengthening their language skills and becoming familiar with the different components of the Cambridge assessment. This preparation, together with the learning experiences accumulated over the years, helped them approach the examination with the knowledge and tools needed to demonstrate their abilities.
For those who may not be familiar with Cambridge A2 Flyers, it is an international English qualification designed for young learners. The examination assesses three areas: Listening, Reading and Writing, and Speaking. Students are invited to understand spoken and written English, complete different language tasks, and communicate directly with an examiner. One of its most encouraging features is that there is no pass or fail: each student receives a certificate recognising their achievement across the different skills.
What makes this moment especially valuable is the opportunity to see our students using the language they have been learning since their earliest years at school. From their first encounters with English in Early Childhood Education to the more demanding activities of 6th Grade, every stage has contributed to preparing them for this experience. The examination represents the closing milestone of the English Immersion Plan, but certainly not the end of their English learning journey. The skills they have developed will continue to accompany them as they move forward in their education.
We would like to warmly congratulate all our 6th Grade A, B, and C students for their effort, preparation, and commitment. We also extend our appreciation to Ms. Camila Moisan Sanhueza, the teachers who have accompanied their learning throughout the years, their families, and the Instituto Chileno Británico de Cultura de Concepción for their valuable collaboration in making this experience possible.
As we celebrate our second year offering this international certification opportunity, we are delighted to see another generation of students completing their English Immersion Plan experience and preparing for the next stage of their learning.
Congratulations to our 6th Graders! We hope you feel proud of everything you have accomplished and continue enjoying the many opportunities that learning English can bring!
