ICT and Ecobrigada Workshops Participate in Educational Visit to the Oceanographic Station in Dichato

As part of the commitment of Colegio Concepción to experiential learning and environmental education, students from the ICT and Ecobrigada workshops recently participated in an enriching educational visit to the Oceanographic Station in Dichato.
During the activity, students had the opportunity to explore the diverse marine ecosystems of the Chilean coast and deepen their understanding of the scientific, economic, and environmental significance of the country’s marine resources. Guided by specialists from the station, participants attended informative presentations and interactive learning sessions focused on various aspects of marine biology and oceanographic research.
Among the topics addressed during the visit were the study of microalgae and their role in marine ecosystems, the conservation of endemic species, and the development of aquaculture as a key sector within Chile’s productive landscape. Students were able to observe different organisms and research processes firsthand, gaining valuable insights into the work carried out by scientists dedicated to the study and protection of marine environments.
A particularly significant aspect of the experience was the analysis of how Chile’s production of seafood and other marine resources contributes to the national economy while also presenting important environmental challenges. Through discussions and demonstrations, students reflected on the need to balance economic development with the sustainable management of natural resources, recognizing the crucial role that scientific research plays in achieving this objective.
This educational outing not only strengthened students’ knowledge of marine sciences and environmental stewardship but also encouraged curiosity, critical thinking, and a greater appreciation for the rich biodiversity of Chile’s coastal ecosystems. Experiences such as this reinforce the mission of Colegio Concepción to provide meaningful learning opportunities that connect classroom knowledge with real-world applications and inspire students to become informed and responsible citizens.
The school extends its gratitude to the staff of the Oceanographic Station in Dichato for their hospitality and dedication, which made this valuable learning experience possible.
