On a delightful Monday, our 1st grade Elementary A students embarked on a delicious journey in their “Little Chefs: A Culinary Adventure” workshop. Guided by their dedicated cooking teachers, Mr. Marcos Riveros and Ms. Katherine Valladares, the young chefs had a blast preparing mini donuts using a donut machine.
Baking Up Fun
Our budding chefs mixed up a storm with this basic donut recipe:
Ingredients:
● 250 grams flour (no baking powder)
● 125 grams sugar
● ¼ litre whole milk
● 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
● 3 eggs
● 50 ml sunflower oil
● 15 grams (2 tablespoons) baking powder
● A pinch of salt
Preparation: Sift the flour and baking powder together, then mix all the ingredients well with an electric mixer. Let the mixture rest for at least 30 minutes (the longer, the better for fluffier donuts). Bake the mini donuts using the donut machine and watch as they turn golden brown and delicious!
Creativity in Every Bite
Once the donuts were baked to perfection, the real fun began. Our young chefs showcased their creativity by decorating their mini donuts with colourful toppings and designs. The room was buzzing with excitement as the students displayed their artistic flair and culinary skills.
This activity wasn’t just about baking; it was a chance for students to bond, learn new skills, and express their creativity in a fun and engaging way. The workshop, conducted in English, added an extra layer of learning, as students practised their language skills while cooking.
At Colegio Concepción, we love blending learning with fun, and our Little Chefs workshop is a perfect example of that. Keep an eye out for more delicious adventures to come!
