6th Grade A Explores the Mystery Behind Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

As this reading experience continues with different 6th grade classes, students from 6th grade A participated in a new session connected to Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, combining literature, reflection, and a simple scientific experiment inspired by the story.
The activity was developed as part of the English Immersion Plan, in articulation with the Spanish Language subject from the Junior Area, guided by Ms Daniela Araya, and led by Mr Marcos Riveros. This collaboration allowed students to approach the novel from a wider perspective, connecting reading, English, literary discussion, creativity, and scientific curiosity.
During the session, students worked with the chapters they had already read, recalling important events, characters, and mysteries that are gradually revealed in the book. One of the most engaging moments of the class was the STEM activity inspired by Chapter 13, “The Very Secret Diary”, where Hermione Granger tries to reveal a hidden message using the spell “Aparecium”. Through an experiment with invisible ink, students recreated the idea of making a secret message appear, discovering that many things that seem magical in fiction can also be understood through observation, materials, and science.
In this experience, the English Immersion Plan contributed by opening a bridge between the Spanish Language reading process and the cultural universe of an English-language literary work. Through this interdisciplinary approach, students were able to connect literature with science, storytelling, innovation, and the world behind the text, strengthening the value of reading as a space where different areas of knowledge can meet.
The final reflection helped students relate the experiment to the novel and think about how fiction can inspire questions beyond the plot itself. In this way, the activity showed that literature can be explored not only through characters and events, but also through curiosity, experimentation, and meaningful connections with the world around us.
Through activities like this, the English Immersion Plan continues to support learning experiences where literature, culture, creativity, and interdisciplinary exploration come together, allowing students to engage with stories from different perspectives and connect them with broader learning experiences.
