As part of the Cumbre de las Regiones 2025, our students were invited to participate in the “Mi Región, Mi Historia, Mi Futuro” contest, organised by the Regional Government of Biobío. This initiative aims to strengthen territorial identity and foster a commitment to a more decentralised and sustainable region, all through the creative lens of the younger generations.
The contest brought together students from across the region in two categories: 6th to 8th grade elementary level and 9th to 12th grade Senior Years level. Participants were asked to submit an original short story inspired by the Biobío Region, reflecting how they perceive its environment, history, identity, and territory. Stories could be inspired by personal experiences, local characters, landscapes, challenges, or dreams for the present and future of the region.
This year, our school was proudly represented by:
● Emilia Reyman (7th grade elementary level) – Category: 6th to 8th grade elementary level
● Mariana Gonzalez (9th grade Secondary level) – Category: 9th to 12th grade Secondary level
The participation in this contest, which was organised by the English Immersion Program, featured a unique approach: although the competition was held in Spanish, our talented students first wrote their stories in English and then translated them into Spanish to meet the contest requirements. This bilingual process not only enhanced their creative writing skills in both languages but also represented an academic and cultural challenge they embraced brilliantly.
This experience reflects our ongoing mission to enhance linguistic learning through a cultural and communicative approach, creating opportunities for students to use English in meaningful, real-world contexts while engaging with their local identity and heritage.
We congratulate Emilia and Mariana for their dedication, effort, and enthusiasm in representing Colegio Concepción in this regional contest, proudly carrying the name of our school and the mission of our English Immersion Program into new cultural spaces.
