As part of the World Book Day 2025 celebrations, Colegio Concepción hosted the exciting “I Am” Literary event, organised by the English Immersion Plan in collaboration with Patricia Álvarez from the Spanish Language Department. This unique activity invited students from 4th Grade Elementary to 4th Year of High School to step onto the stage and embody well-known literary characters and authors, showcasing their language skills in a bilingual setting.
The event was all about creativity and personal expression, with each class selecting a student to represent a character or author, either from their reading plan or from books chosen specifically for the occasion. Students presented everything from reviews to monologues, stories, and recitations, blending literary analysis with theatrical expression in memorable performances.
Students who participated included Helena Millapán Olate from 4th Grade A elementary level, who brought María from Habla María to life; Francisco Huepe Etcheberry from 5th Grade A elementary level, who portrayed Bartolo from Los Sueños Mágicos de Bartolo; Enrique Quintana Quezada from 6th Grade A elementary level, who embodied Trunchbull from Matilda, and Isidora Lecaros from 4th grade B of High School level, who took on the role of Dorian Gray from The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde.
A highlight of the event was the moving portrayal of Mary Shelley and her husband Percy Bysshe Shelley. They were brought to life by Mr. Marcos Riveros and Ms. Patricia Alvarez who engaged in a bilingual dialogue reflecting on the creation of Frankenstein and the challenges Mary Shelley faced as a woman writer in the 19th century.
The auditorium was filled with an atmosphere of respect and admiration for literature. We invite you to visit our gallery and take a look at the highlights of this unforgettable moment. Let’s keep celebrating books, stories, and the many voices that shape how we see the world!
