To mark the beginning of our school’s World Book Day celebrations, students from the 3rd and 4th grade Literature Elective gathered at the school canteen on Monday, 21st April for a special activity: a Literature Coffee. This inaugural event combined the richness of classic literature with a timely and relevant discussion about professional paths.
Organised by the English Immersion Plan and the Department of Spanish Language, the session was led by Mr. Marcos Riveros and Ms. Patricia Álvarez. Split into two groups, students engaged in thoughtful conversations in both English and Spanish.
Over a warm cup of coffee, students explored how three major professional fields—Law, Medicine, and Architecture/Engineering—have been represented in classical works by literary giants William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes. These authors, whose legacies are central to the World Book Day celebration, provided a meaningful lens through which students, who are themselves beginning to consider their future academic and career paths, could connect with timeless questions of purpose and vocation.
The atmosphere in the canteen was both reflective and enjoyable, as students engaged actively with the texts, each other, and their teachers. This Literature Coffee was not only a warm start to a week filled with literary activities but also a reminder of how the classics continue to speak to us in the present.
