Bingo with a Twist: When English Meets Maths in the Library

Earlier this week our 5th-grade students from classes A and B gathered in the school library for a lively and enriching bingo session—one that blended English and Maths in a creative, cross-curricular activity. Organised by the English Immersion Plan, this activity was the result of a wonderful collaboration between the English subject, led by Ms. Camila Moisan, and the Mathematics class guided by Mr. Rubén Ortiz.
But this wasn’t your ordinary game of bingo. Instead of simply calling out numbers, each one was hidden behind a times tables question, challenging students to put their multiplication skills to the test before they could mark their cards. The excitement didn’t stop there—when a tie occurred, the deciding factor came down to either answering another Maths question or spelling an English word correctly. A true celebration of both subjects!
The atmosphere in the library was full of energy and focus, as students worked together, solved problems, and used their English skills in a meaningful and engaging way. It was a unique opportunity to see how language and numbers can come together to spark curiosity and confidence.
Activities like these are a wonderful example of the English Immersion Plan in action—bringing subjects together, building skills across the curriculum, and helping students experience English as a natural part of their learning journey. We look forward to seeing more joyful moments like this in the months ahead.
