Extensive reading for students in the aforementioned levels aims to cultivate the reading habit, enhance fluency, reading comprehension, and broaden their literary horizons. According to Jeremy Harmer, unlike intensive reading, which delves deeply into a specific text for detailed analysis, extensive reading focuses on the quantity and diversity of readings.
The young readers of 4th grade read the classic tale of «The Little Red Hen». Through their creativity, they summarized the story in their lapbooks and highlighted the values of teamwork and responsibility that the story conveys. They learned new words like «wheat», «flour», and «bake», and used them in sentences to better grasp their meaning.
The adventurers of 7th grade explored the magical world of «Peter Pan». Their lapbooks not only captured the essence of the story but also reflected their favorite characters and moments.
