Colegio Concepción Students Achieve Second Place at Inter-School Spelling Bee

On June 16th, students from Colegio Concepción represented our school in an inter-school Spelling Bee competition held at Colegio María Inmaculada, Concepción, bringing together participants from more than eight schools from the region.
Representing our school, María Barrera, Rocío Oyarzúa, and Benjamín Sáez, all from 11th grade A, Senior Area, took part in this meaningful English learning experience. Their participation reflected the school’s ongoing commitment to offering students real opportunities to use English beyond the classroom.
Throughout the event, students participated in a fully English-speaking environment, where they were able to challenge themselves, demonstrate their spelling skills, and share with students from other educational communities. The competition was very well organised and created a positive atmosphere of respect, concentration, and healthy academic challenge.
One of the most exciting moments of the competition took place during the final stage, when our students were tied in first place. After a long and closely contested tie-breaking round, Colegio Concepción achieved second place, closing the experience with great excitement, pride, and a strong sense of enjoyment.
Experiences like this are especially valuable because they allow students to put their English knowledge into practice in an authentic context. A Spelling Bee not only strengthens vocabulary, pronunciation, and attention to detail, but also helps students develop confidence, self-control, and the ability to perform in front of an audience.
We congratulate María, Rocío, and Benjamín for representing Colegio Concepción with commitment, responsibility, and enthusiasm. Their participation and achievement reflect the value of engaging with English as a living language, connected to communication, challenge, and meaningful experiences outside the school.
We also extend our sincere appreciation to Colegio María Inmaculada, Concepción, for organising and hosting this valuable event, which gave students from different schools the opportunity to come together through English learning.
We invite our school community to visit the gallery and enjoy some highlights from this special moment.
