Our youngest students from the Junior Area participated in a special Pixar Short Film Cycle, organised as part of the experiences promoted by the English Immersion Plan. The activity was held on Tuesday, July 21st, at the school auditorium, creating a meaningful audiovisual moment where students could enjoy stories, emotions, and language in a different learning context.
The session consisted of a selection of Pixar short films presented in English and especially chosen for young learners. Through animation, music, gestures, characters, and visual storytelling, students were able to follow the stories in a simple and enjoyable way. These kinds of experiences are especially valuable in the early years, as images and actions help children understand meaning, connect words with emotions, and approach English naturally through context.
Beyond entertainment, the short film cycle offered an opportunity to reinforce language exposure in a meaningful way. Students listened to English while observing characters, reactions, settings, and actions that supported comprehension. In this sense, the activity allowed them to experience the language not only through isolated words, but through stories that helped them associate English with feelings, situations, movement, and imagination.
Each short film also opened a small space for reflection on values such as friendship, kindness, empathy, respect, and cooperation. In this way, the activity became more than a cinema moment; it became a shared learning experience where students could observe, feel, react, and connect with others while being exposed to English in a warm and age-appropriate environment.
The auditorium also became an important part of the experience. For young students, participating in a school activity outside the classroom helps strengthen routines, attention, listening, respect for shared spaces, and the joy of being part of a wider school community. The short duration of the session allowed students to enjoy the activity calmly, keeping the experience meaningful, engaging, and appropriate for their age.
Through activities like this, the English Immersion Plan continues to promote learning opportunities where language, culture, stories, and emotions come together naturally. In this case, Pixar short films became a bridge to English, imagination, and values, reminding students that language can also be discovered through images, sounds, gestures, and shared emotion.
