Bingo in the Library: Lessons in Math, English, and Team Spirit

On Tuesday, September 9th, the library became a lively stage for our 4th-grade elementary students, who took part in a special bingo activity that mixed mathematics, language learning, and important reflections about participation. The event was organised by the English Immersion Plan in collaboration with Ms. Débora Hernández, head teacher and Maths teacher of 4th grade A.
The subject of Maths became a bingo session! Far from being a traditional game, this version invited students to solve math problems such as 10 + 11 in order to discover the numbers on their cards. With excitement in the air, each solved equation brought the chance of moving closer to a “Bingo!”. This playful twist turned numbers into a dynamic and interactive challenge, showing how problem-solving can also be fun, creative, and collaborative.
Beyond numbers, the session encouraged students to reflect on values that are just as important as academic skills: the meaning of winning, losing, and participating fairly. Students celebrated each other’s successes, learned to manage setbacks, and discovered that resilience and empathy are essential for working and playing together. These reflections directly connect with 21st-century skills such as teamwork, communication, and emotional intelligence.
All of this happened in English, giving students an authentic opportunity to practise the language in a natural context outside their English class. Activities like this reflect the English Immersion Program’s core mission: to integrate English across different areas of the curriculum and daily life, making it a real communicative tool. This bilingual and cross-curricular approach strengthens not only language learning but also cultural understanding and global awareness.
At Colegio Concepción, innovation means designing experiences that go beyond the traditional classroom, linking subjects, values, and languages in creative ways. By blending maths, play, and English immersion in a single activity, our students were able to develop knowledge, practise skills, and reflect on attitudes that prepare them for the challenges of the 21st century.
We warmly invite you to visit our photo gallery and relive the joy, teamwork, and unforgettable moments of this bingo activity, proof that learning can be innovative, meaningful, and fun.
