The English Immersion Program at Colegio Concepción is delighted to invite our talented students to participate in the Bennington College Young Writers Awards (YWA), one of the most prestigious international high school writing competitions. This event provides a unique opportunity for students in Grades 9–12 to showcase their creativity and writing skills on a global stage.
Bennington College, a renowned institution that has fostered some of the most influential writers of our time—including Pulitzer Prize winners and U.S. poet laureates—organises this annual competition to recognise outstanding student writing at the high school level.
About the Competition
Students are invited to submit original work in one of three categories:
● Poetry: One to three poems
● Fiction: A short story or a stand-alone excerpt from a larger piece, up to 1,500 words.
● Nonfiction: A personal or academic essay, or a stand-alone excerpt, also with a 1,500-word limit.
All entries must be original work created entirely by the student and written in English.
Eligibility and Deadline
The competition is open to students in Grades 9, 10, 11, and 12, and the deadline for submissions is November 1st, 2025.
