Spelling Bee 2025: Celebrating Learning and Excellence in English.

On Tuesday, August 26, 2025, Colegio Concepción proudly hosted the inaugural edition of the Spelling Bee 2025, an academic event aimed at strengthening students’ English language skills through vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation practice in a dynamic and motivating way. The competition was specially designed for students in 1st and 2nd year of High School.
This activity was organized by the English Department of Colegio Concepción, in collaboration with the school’s Immersion Program, and brought together students from eleven institutions across the Concepción area.

The event began with a warm welcome to distinguished guests, including school authorities, and teachers. Special recognition was given to the words of Mr. Víctor Viveros Vidal, Headmaster of Colegio Concepción, and Mr. Cristopher Cano Mella, Head of the English Department, who emphasized the importance of fostering language learning, promoting healthy competition, and encouraging interaction among students from different educational contexts. Both highlighted that beyond language acquisition, initiatives such as this contribute to students’ comprehensive development.
The competition followed clear rules and structure, with each team receiving a list of 500 words to prepare beforehand. Participants spelled words individually under time constraints, with opportunities to ask for repetition or examples in sentences. The final round challenged students with an additional list of advanced vocabulary words, testing their focus and teamwork.

The following institutions took part in this memorable event:
1. Colegio Santa Bernardita, Talcahuano
2. Colegio Concepción Hualqui
3. Colegio Talcahuano
4. The Pacific School
5. Kingston College

7. Colegio San Ignacio
8. Colegio Inmaculada Concepción

The competition was evaluated by a distinguished panel of external English teachers: Valentina Oyarzo, Daniela Cabrera, and Gemalli Ulloa. Their participation added an extra layer of fairness and transparency to the event, ensuring an objective and professional assessment of each performance.

After an exciting and competitive day, the results were as follows:
