Plogging at Humedal Desembocadura Río Biobío: A Collaborative Environmental Effort

On the morning of July 23, 2025, during regular school hours, students visited the Humedal Desembocadura Río Biobío for a unique environmental activity: Plogging. This activity, which combines jogging with litter collection, aimed to raise awareness about pollution and its detrimental effects on the local ecosystem.
The activity was done by the geography elective, led by Ms. María Patricia Jerez, supported by the Ecobrigada workshop and the environmental group «Más Árboles Menos Basura” , and the activity was also documented by the ICT workshop, led by Mr. Marcos Riveros. The geography students actively participated in a trekking session along the wetland while picking up trash, highlighting the importance of maintaining clean and healthy environments.
Members of the Ecobrigada workshop, along with the environmental group, provided guidance and ensured the activity was carried out safely and effectively. Meanwhile, the ICT workshop documented the entire event through photos and videos, allowing the school community to visually capture the positive impact of this initiative.
In the end, this plogging activity was more than just a clean-up; it served as a powerful reminder of the ongoing environmental challenges we face, particularly the impact of pollution on delicate ecosystems like Wetlands. Through this hands-on experience, students gained valuable insight into the importance of environmental stewardship and the role each person plays in protecting our natural spaces.
