More Than Just a Game: Bingo Builds Friendship, Language, and Values in 5th Grade C

On Tuesday, May 13th, our 5th Grade C students enjoyed a joyful and engaging bingo activity that turned out to be much more than just a game. As a class made up of new students, the session provided a wonderful opportunity to break the ice, build new friendships, and practice English in a playful, low-stress setting. This activity was organised by the English Immersion Plan in collaboration with Ms. Camila Moisan head teacher of 5th grade C.
The game was full of energy, and several tie-breakers kept the excitement high, solved with fun spelling challenges that reinforced their language skills in a creative way. But the most meaningful moments came from the values the students brought into play.
Since the activity took place during their Ethics class, students were encouraged to reflect on emotions like frustration, the joy of winning, and the disappointment of losing. A truly special moment occurred when the prizes ran out. One student stood up and suggested they continue playing for the joy of the game, and that a round of applause for the winner would be more than enough. This powerful gesture sparked a collective celebration that showed maturity, empathy, and a true sense of community.
It was a beautiful reminder that in our school, learning extends far beyond academic content. Moments like these help shape responsible, caring individuals, and we are proud to see these values lived out in such a genuine way.
