On Monday, October 7th, Colegio Concepción had the pleasure of welcoming back Mia Kreca from Bosnia and Herzegovina for another enriching cultural exchange with our students. This time, Mia worked with our 3rd graders during their music class, offering a unique experience that bridged Chilean and Bosnian traditions through music and dance.
Building on her previous visit, Mia led an interactive session where students explored the folklore music of both countries. Together, we discovered fascinating similarities between instruments, like the pandero and guitar, used in both Chilean and Bosnian music, while also highlighting differences with Bosnia’s trumpet and flute. This hands-on musical journey deepened the students’ appreciation for how instruments can reflect the cultural essence of a country.
The energy in the room soared when it was time for dancing! Our students joyfully danced traditional Chilean dances like a “Trote Nortino” and a “Cueca”, moving to the rhythms of «El Costillar es Mío» and «La Consentida.» In turn, Mia introduced them to the lively KOLO, the national dance of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which the students embraced with enthusiasm, adding an exciting international flair to their learning.
Mia’s return visit was yet another reminder of how music and dance can transcend borders, bringing people together in celebration of diverse cultures. We are deeply grateful to Mia for sharing her time, talent, and passion with our students once again, making this exchange an unforgettable experience.
We invite our readers to check out the highlights of this memorable event and see how our students danced their way through this incredible cultural fusion!
