On August 7th, our 8th grade C high school students had a delightful time combining grammar practice with a tasty treat in their English class. The activity, designed to reinforce the use of irregular verbs in the past simple tense, took place in the library, providing a cosy and enjoyable setting for learning.
A Tasty Grammar Lesson
The students participated in a creative biscuit decoration activity where each student was assigned an irregular verb. They decorated their biscuits with the verb and then matched the bare infinitive with its past simple form. This hands-on approach not only made learning more engaging but also helped students visualise and internalise the grammar rules in a fun and memorable way.
Enjoying the Moment
To add to the enjoyment, the students sipped on iced coffee as they worked on their biscuits, making the session both delicious and educational. The relaxed atmosphere in the library allowed students to practise their grammar skills while having a great time with their peers.
A Memorable Experience
This activity was a fantastic example of how blending educational content with enjoyable experiences can enhance learning. The students left with a better grasp of irregular verbs and fond memories of a fun and interactive English lesson.
