On Friday, the 12th of July, our talented students Amanda Bugmann from 3rd grade B, Maximiliano Breve from 4th grade A, and Martino Roncagliolio from 4th grade B showcased their spelling prowess at the Spelling Bee competition held at Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB). Organised by the university, this event brought together students from different schools across the region to test their English language skills.
A spelling bee contest is a competition where participants are asked to spell words orally. It not only tests their ability to spell accurately but also challenges their comprehension of language rules and vocabulary. Competing in the first part of the competition, known as «Categoria B,» which included students from 3rd and 4th grade levels, our participants had the opportunity to demonstrate their English proficiency and literacy accuracy. It was an exhilarating experience for them to compete on such a platform and represent our school with pride.
Spelling bees are valuable as they encourage students to improve their language skills, build confidence in public speaking, and foster a spirit of healthy competition. These contests also promote cultural exchange and understanding among students from different schools and backgrounds.
We are eagerly anticipating the next rounds of the competition, where more students will have their chance to shine. Stay tuned as we cheer on our participants and wish them the best of luck in their upcoming rounds of the competition!
