Exploring Literature: The Reading Club at Colegio Concepción

We are thrilled to share that we now have a Reading Club here at Colegio Concepción!, organised by Mr. Marcos Riveros from the English Immersion program. It is a club conducted entirely in English, and it welcomes readers monsters from 8th grade up to 4th year of high school, fostering a deep appreciation for literature among our students.
The Reading Club is divided into two engaging groups, each focusing on distinct literary genres. The first group delves into young adult literature, currently exploring Suzanne Collins’ gripping novel, «The Hunger Games.» Meanwhile, the second group explores the realms of satire and historical dramas through Jane Austen’s timeless classic, «Pride and Prejudice.» In both groups, students analyse historical contexts, writing styles, literary aesthetics, characters, themes, and of course language use, enriching their understanding of literature in a collaborative environment.
Initially designed to enhance English language skills for advanced students, the Reading Club has evolved into a space for reflection, critical analysis, and enjoyment of literature. Students not only engage deeply with the texts but also share their insights through essays and reflections, fostering a vibrant literary community within our school.
Stay tuned as we share more about the discussions, essays, and reflections from our Reading Club. We look forward to keeping you updated on the books we’ll be exploring in the future, inviting the entire school community to join us in our literary journey!
