On May 31st, our students from the 5th Grade «B» buzzed with excitement as they welcomed a special guest speaker, Mia Kreca, from Bosnia and Herzegovina. This cultural discussion, organised by our English Immersion program with the help of Ms. Camila Moisan, their English teacher, and Mr. Marcos Riveros, who coordinated the event, provided a unique opportunity for our students to use English while learning about a fascinating country.
A Cultural Journey
Mia Kreca captivated the students with her engaging presentation covering various topics such as language, cities, food, culture, dance, and music. The students were thrilled to practise phrases in Bosnian, adding a new layer to their language learning experience.
Interactive and Engaging
The students’ curiosity shone through as they eagerly asked Mia numerous questions about her life and experiences. They learned about her work in English, her life in Chile, and her home language of Bosnian-Croatian. This interaction was the highlight of the event, fulfilling the main aim of fostering inquisitiveness and cultural exchange.
A Memorable Experience
Mia’s sharing of her multicultural experiences was an enriching and eye-opening experience for our students. It was a great example of intercultural exchange, with everyone communicating in English as a second language, demonstrating the power of English as a global lingua franca. We are proud of our students for their enthusiasm and active participation, making the most of this fantastic learning opportunity.
