Enthralling Storytelling Spectacle: Reviving Timeless Tales for World Book Day

In commemoration of World Book Day, our school had the privilege of hosting a captivating storytelling event, transporting students from Medio mayor to 2nd grade elementary on a spellbinding adventure through the cherished narratives of «The Three Little Pigs» and «Carlota the kitten and Puss in Boots.» This immersive endeavour aimed to spark the imagination of our young learners and cultivate a fondness for literature through a mesmerising amalgamation of puppetry, live chorus, and live musical accompaniment. Set within the charming ambiance of the school Parvulario, the stage was transformed into a whimsical tableau adorned with vibrant decorations inspired by the enchanting realms of our selected tales. Anticipation filled the air as students eagerly awaited the commencement of the performance.

The Tale of «The Three Little Pigs»:

The initial segment of the storytelling extravaganza revolved around the enduring fable of «The Three Little Pigs.» Utilising puppets, Mr. Marcos Riveros brought to life the narrative of three sibling pigs embarking on a quest to construct their homes. From straw to sticks to bricks, the students followed the pigs’ exploits and gleaned invaluable lessons about diligence, perseverance, and fortitude.

The Adventures of «Carlota de Kitten and Puss in Boots»:

Following the delightful rendition of «The Three Little Pigs,» the stage was animated once more, this time with the antics of the clever and cunning Puss in Boots. Through a blend of live chorus and enchanting puppetry, students were spellbound by the escapades of Puss as he shrewdly outmanoeuvred the king and aided his master in attaining wealth and happiness. Along the journey, the narrative imparted significant insights about ingenuity, resourcefulness, and the potency of companionship.

Enhancing the storytelling experience was the live musical accompaniment, provided by adept musicians from our school orchestra. Rendering a melodic backdrop, the music intensified the emotions and ambiance of the tales. From cheerful tunes during light-hearted moments to powerful music during important parts, the music served to further immerse the audience in the enchanting narratives which of course were conducted in English language. This interactive approach not only sustained the young audience’s interest but also nurtured their creativity and imagination.

Our school’s observance of World Book Day through the enchanting storytelling of «The Three Little Pigs» and «Carlota de Kitten and Puss in Boots» was met with resounding acclaim, leaving students enthralled and inspired. Through the imaginative fusion of puppetry, live chorus, and live musical accompaniment, we breathed new life into these timeless tales, instilling a profound affection for literature and imagination among our students.
