Embracing the Magic of Books: World Book Day Gathering at Our School Library

Dear Students, Teachers, and Book Enthusiasts,

On April 23rd, as the world celebrated the joy of literature on World Book Day, our school library was abuzz with excitement and literary fervour. With the aim of fostering a love for reading and sharing the wonders of storytelling, a special gathering was organised, bringing together students from Ciclo Basico to recommend their favourite books.

In this delightful gathering, students from 5th and 6th grade took centre stage, each passionately advocating for their beloved literary treasures. From the timeless charm of «The Little Prince» to the enchanting wizarding world of «Harry Potter,» and the poignant narrative of «Maus» to the empowering tale of «Lulu Quiere Ser Presidenta,» among others, the diversity of recommendations mirrored the richness of our library’s collection.

Among the eloquent voices that echoed through the shelves of our library were Benjamin Arriagada and Enrique Quintana from 5th grade, and Emilia Reyman, Juan Carlos Bugmann, Amparo Galdames, and Sebastian Escobar from 6th grade. Their enthusiasm was infectious as they shared personal insights, favourite moments, and the profound impact these books had on them.

Conducted entirely in English, the event not only celebrated the joy of reading but also provided a platform for students to practise their language skills in a meaningful and engaging context. By encouraging them to express themselves fluently in a language beyond their native tongue, we fostered an environment that promotes linguistic confidence and proficiency.

Beyond the exchange of book recommendations, the gathering served a deeper purpose: to instil in our students a lifelong appreciation for literature and the power of storytelling. Through the magic of books, we hope to inspire curiosity, empathy, and imagination, guiding our students on a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment.

As we reflect on the success of this event, let us carry forward the spirit of World Book Day in our hearts throughout the year. Whether through solitary reading adventures or lively book discussions, may we continue to nurture a community where the love for literature thrives and grows.

Thank you to all who contributed to making this event a resounding success, and here’s to many more literary celebrations to come!
