Celebrating Nature and Learning: Colegio Concepción at the 68th Exhibition of Flowers and Plants

This November, students from Colegio Concepción brought the spirit of innovation, teamwork, and environmental awareness to the 68th Exhibition of Flowers, Plants, and Floral Designs, organised by the Club de Jardines de Concepción at the Municipal Library. The event gathered schools, organizations, and garden enthusiasts from across the region to celebrate creativity and the beauty of Chile’s native flora.
Our participation, led by the ICT Workshop and the Ecobrigade, was part of the institutional project Our Native Flora Trail, a long-term initiative that promotes environmental education. Guided by Mr. Marcos Riveros, Ms. Iowana Maltés, and Ms. María Patricia Salazar, students presented the work they have been developing throughout the year, promoting sustainability through a bilingual and interdisciplinary approach.
Ms. María Patricia Salazar, who has represented the school in this exhibition for several years, once again played a key role in mentoring students and maintaining Colegio Concepción’s presence in this meaningful community encounter.
For the exhibition, students prepared informative posters and flyers in English, displayed native plants from the school’s trail, and presented their repotting work, developed during a workshop organised by the school’s Sustainability Committee. Their display featured species such as Peumo, Boldo, Copihue, Arrayán, and Coile, inviting visitors to explore the biodiversity surrounding our school’s hill and to reflect on the importance of protecting these unique ecosystems.
The students who proudly represented our school were Juan Pablo Astete, Florencia Henríquez, Joaquín Pinto, Rodrigo Yáñez, Leonardo Correa, Javier Ormeño, Benjamín Sáez, Benjamín Pinto, Catalina Oyanadel, Valentina Oyanadel, Rocío Oyarzúa, Tomás Fuentealba, and Mateo Morales, all members of the ICT and Ecobrigade workshops.
Through this experience, students not only shared their environmental knowledge but also used English as a bridge for communication, creativity, and global connection. Their participation reflects Colegio Concepción’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and meaningful learning, reminding us that education flourishes when curiosity, collaboration, and nature come together.
