In April, the Ecobrigade workshop, an integral part of our school’s commitment to environmental sustainability, hosted a compelling conference focused on the vital topic of native tree planting. This event was made possible through the collaboration of The Gran Logia de Chile and the Corporación Educacional Masónica de Concepción, and it was expertly led by Miguel Martínez Romero, representative of Adopta un Árbol Nativo.
During the conference, the students of the Ecobrigade workshop, alongside their dedicated teacher Ms. Iowanna Maltés, the students of the Ecobrigade workshop were introduced to a variety of native species, and guided to identify them along the school’s trekking trail, allowing them to gain a deeper understanding of the local flora.
A key highlight of the workshop involved the activation of native tree seeds in the school’s greenhouse, where the students will continue to nurture and take care of them. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to contribute to the restoration of the environment surrounding the trekking trail, ensuring that future generations can enjoy the beauty and ecological benefits of these native trees.
These kinds of activities are so important to be done, because, in a world facing rapid environmental change, the restoration of local ecosystems through the planting of native trees is crucial. Native trees not only support biodiversity but also contribute to the health of our soils, air, and water systems.
Now, we invite you to explore the images from this memorable event and reflect on the commitment our students have made to environmental stewardship. Take a moment to view the inspiring photos, to learn more about this impactful initiative. Together, we are fostering a more sustainable and greener future for all.
