In mid-April 2025, the greenhouse at Colegio Concepción was relocated behind the Synthetic Turf Pitch and next to the Gym “B” to ensure the plants received better sunlight. The original location was not providing the necessary light, which affected the growth of the plants. This move is part of the school’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental education.
The relocation was coordinated by the students of the extracurricular class “Ecobrigada”, led by Professor Iowana Maltes. While they did not physically move the greenhouse themselves, the students took the lead in organizing the process—communicating with those in charge of the move and planning the next steps. On the Thursday following the relocation, the group gathered to arrange and organise the interior of the greenhouse, ensuring the plants were well placed and cared for in their new environment.
This initiative is part of a larger project to create a seed bank for native trees that will eventually be planted around the school. The project not only aims to enhance the school’s biodiversity but also serves as an educational tool for students to learn about the importance of preserving native species and supporting local ecosystems.
Through this and other projects, Colegio Concepción continues to promote environmental awareness and invites the school community to actively participate in building a more sustainable future.
