Building significant connections with students is the main advice of Joaquin Triandafilide, headmaster of Instituto chileno norteamericano de cultura, Fac member, founder of fundacion Neuroeducas, and fundacion Socialwatson, and speaker of the webinar “How the school can relate to students in the current context?”, organized by Colegio Concepcion Pedro de Valdivia English department.

Joaquin Triandafilide explained the paradigms and different approaches to cope with this issue in the current context. Triandafilide provided key tips and strategies for schools to achieve a post-pandemic associative connection.

“Firstly, schools have to understand the learning conditions of students. This means knowing the conditions in which they are living, their compatibility with teacher schedules, organization, and activities. Secondly it is mandatory to prevent school dropout by maintaining the student’s motivation and school involvement. Here they can work in various areas to create trust and show them that learning is a process. Finally, schools have to create connections with students, through the search for an interlocutor legitimized by the student, and provide pedagogical, emotional and social support,» explained Triandafilide.

Advice shared by Pilar Zarate senior academic consultant Cambridge chile, who highlighted that this scenario posed a set of new challenges for teachers and administrators. During the presentation, Triandafilide ,recounted and gathered the experience that teachers at the different corporate institutions have had in the schools and assured that they had to reinvent themselves, especially in the relationship between teacher-student. Although Triandafilide. highlights that they have tried to cover all pedagogical topics and understand the context in which the student and their families find themselves, one of the important issues is to elucidate where the limit is and know how to address the topics and when to do so.
